Section 13(f) Database - Computer-Readable File Download

"Section 13(f)" refers to a component of the Securites Exchange Act which requires that companies with over $100 Million in holdings must complete a form (called a Form 13) to report those holdings. While the FAQ document indicates that there are no computer-readable versions of this file, Goldstar Software extracts a copy of this database every quarter from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and can make it available to you in a comma-delimited file (CSV) for download and subsequent importing into your own database applications, to make filing the Form 13F easier.

Typically, the SEC makes this list available within a few days (either side) of the end of a quarter, but they do not currently have a notification process. We start looking for the posted list once per day about 3 days before the end of the quarter, and we start watching for it twice a day after the second day of the quarter. Our typical turn-around for the CSV file is one day after finding the new list.
